Here's how we're taking action in our community:

I'm participating in my school's annual Ripple Fair project. I plan to sell fidget spinners and adjustable para cord bracelets to raise money for the kids at St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital.

Here's how we got the idea:

My school presented the opportunity to participate in the fair and I couldn't restrain myself.

These are the steps we took:

I ordered the parts necessary to make the fidget spinners approximately one month prior to the fair. Then I spent hours making the spinners with my family. Then I created a poster board detailing the items I was going to sell and the price for each. I also listed the charity that I was raising money for. We made the bracelets in a hotel room in San Francisco while my family and I were on Spring Break.

Here are some of the results:

We made 10 fidget spinners and sold them at $5 each. We sold out of all 10 spinners within 1 minute of opening time. We then decided to take orders since there was still a high demand. We ended up taking 13 orders and making them that evening so we could collect the money at school the next day. I made a couple of extra spinners (just in case) and I was able to sell both of those too. We made 18 bracelets and only had 4 left. We did lower the price of the bracelets in order to move inventory and increase the amount to be donated.

These are the people who volunteered with me:

One of the coolest things that happened during my project was:

About a dozen boys bombarded us at the beginning of the fair, which is how we sold out so quickly. Quick shout out to the boys that got St. Jude's $50 within the first minute.

One of the most important things I learned was:

I really enjoy helping people and doing charity work. I also learned the importance of non-profit organizations and how they help other people.
