Here's how we're taking action in our community:

On Saturday, September 19th, I participated in the the San Diego Brain Tumor Foundation 5K. WIth my moms help, I emailed friends and family to get them to sponsor me. I raised over $500 in pledges and walked side by side with survivors and others walking in support of loved ones. SDBTF supports patients and their families during their fight with brain cancer through support groups, transportation to medical appointment, financial assistance with medical bills, meals, and respite care.

Here's how we got the idea:

My Uncle Skip was diagnosed in 2014 with Grade 4 Glioblastoma and I chose to walk in support of him. In August, my uncle sent my mom an email asking her to sponsor him in the 5K. She asked me and I agreed to join Team Skippidy Doo Dah and walk with him.

These are the steps we took:

My mom helped me email friends and family. They went to my SDBTF page and sponsored me or sent checks to my mom. We walked the 5K on Saturday.

Here are some of the results:

I raised over $500 in pledges and Team Skippidy Doo Dah was second place overall in fundraising.

These are the people who volunteered with me:

One of the coolest things that happened during my project was:

I got to walk with my Uncle and cousins but my oldest cousin ran the 5K and was done the fastest.

One of the most important things I learned was:

I can make a difference and helping others can be fun.
