Here's how we're taking action in our community:

Good Morning,
My class is reading the book Wonder and learning about kids with craniofacial abnormalities. We have decided to make a donation and try to "adopt a face" with the children's craniofacial association (www.ccakids.org). So far, we have had monetary donations (as much as $50 from one family!) and Melissa and Audrey in my class asked if we could put posters up around the school to raise awareness and ask for donations. I would love for all participants to be recognized and am still looking for 100% class participation to be a Muir Ripple Class!
Participants thus far:
Kimberly Aguilar - poster and $
Desiree Arevalo Gil - p
David Barrios - $
Geraldine Camarena - P
Gillian Carillo - p
Audrey Cendejas - leader of the poster idea with Melissa Gonales
Ivana Cortes - p
Lucia Enriquez - p
Aundrea Fields - $
Melissa Gonzales - poster co leader
Sophia Macias - p and $50
Matthew Madrigal - p and $
Jonathan Pleitez - $
Kayla Renteria - p
Josiah Reyes - p and $
Darlene Suarez Trejo - $
Mrs. Krill - $
We have collected a total of $108.62. Pretty amazing work!
Thanks,
Suzi Krill

Children's Craniofacial Association is a national, 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, headquartered in Dallas, Texas. CCA's mission is to empower and give hope to ...

Here's how we got the idea:

Reading the book Wonder with my class and being part of an online group www.wonderkindclassroom.com and www.ccakids.org

These are the steps we took:

see action above. Posters and money raising thus far.

Here are some of the results:

Raised $108 so far....and still bringing awareness to campus

One of the coolest things that happened during my project was:

The kids made the most beautiful posters and truly have hearts filled with compassion for these kids with craniofacial differences.

One of the most important things I learned was:

We are all alike - don't judge a person by his/her looks, get to know their heart!
