Here's how we're taking action in our community:

We are taking action in our community by making cat toys for the orange county animal shelter.

Here's how we got the idea:

We knew we wanted to help animals so we went to the animal shelter and looked around. We saw that the cats didn't have as many toys as the dogs so we made cat toys.

These are the steps we took:

We planned on helping animals. We went to the animal shelter and look around. Found out that cats needed toys. We asked volunteers what items we could make for donations. We planned a meeting to make the toys, gathered materials, sewed the cat toys and then we donated them to the shelter.

Here are some of the results:

We were able to make 50 cat toys for the animal shelter so each cat could get a toy while waiting for a new home.

One of the coolest things that happened during my project was:

We saw a dog at the shelter that was so cute and his name was junior and we are junior girl scouts. We also saw a dog with a really cool USA flag bandanna.

One of the most important things I learned was:

We learned that even the smallest person can do something big to improve a situation and we made lots of cats happy while they waited for a forever home.
