No Stray Left Behind-rescue and adoption org

6.00 hours$65.00 raised

Here's how we're taking action in our community:

I sold lemonade and popcorn at my school's Ripple Fair. I raised $65 for No Stray Left Behind - a non profit organization that rescues stray dogs, fosters them, and then helps them find their forever home through adoption. This is how we adopted my dog, Dobby, about 5 years ago. They have adoption events every Sunday at the Marketplace Petsmart.

Here's how we got the idea:

My mom gave me 4 charity ideas, and I chose this one because I love my dog and animals. I also knew I wanted to sell something that I liked, so I chose popcorn and lemonade.

These are the steps we took:

We made 2 posters: one, with information about NSLB and a picture of my dog, and the other with what we were selling and for how much. I bagged popcorn into small serving bags, and dispensed lemonade into cups. My mom bought balloons to attract visitors to our table so we could talk to students about NSLB.

Here are some of the results:

36 bags of popcorn (sold fast!) and 29 cups of lemonade sold for $1 each. We also gave a few cups of lemonade away to classmates that didn't have any $ today, and to one friend also named Owen :)

These are the people who volunteered with me:

One of the coolest things that happened during my project was:

I got to talk to my friends about how I got my dog - adopt don't shop!

One of the most important things I learned was:

It's fun to help out organizations that have made a difference in my life!
