Banning the Bottle/Water Bottle Filling Station

60.00 hours$550.00 raised

Here's how we're taking action in our community:

My troop is working to ban plastic water bottles on Arroyo's campus by raising money to bring in a water bottle filling station to the school. This will encourage kids to bring only reusable water bottles.

Other troops are helping us as well by selling the reusable water bottles and donating money to our cause.

Here's how we got the idea:

We saw the Ban The Bottle campaign on the internet and got the idea from there.

These are the steps we took:

We came up with our goal, we decided to hold a raffle where kids could buy tickets for a dollar and enter to win prizes. We sold the raffle tickets before and after school for a week and then we announced the winner on a Friday flag ceremony.

We also publicized to the community through posters, flyers that were distributed, and electronic blasts.

Here are some of the results:

We made over $550! With the help of the other troops, we will have enough money to buy the water bottle filling station.

These are the people who volunteered with me:

One of the coolest things that happened during my project was:

Everyone is very excited to have this at our school and people love our idea!

One of the most important things I learned was:

We need to help the environment and stop using the plastic bottles!
