Here's how we're taking action in our community:
We made bracelets out of recycled drink bottles! We sold the bracelets to benefit Ethan & Choco's Book Club, which is a new program with MaxLove Project to build a library and reading program at CHOC Children's Hospital.
Here's how we got the idea:
My brother and mom started Ethan & Choco's Book Club after noticing that the hospital lacked books and reading. (My brother was diagnosed with Leukemia last year and has had to spend a lot of time at the hospital). We saw the idea for the bracelets on You Tube and thought it was cool!
These are the steps we took:
First, we collected bottles. Then, we cleaned them and cut them into strips of plastic circles. Next we ironed the edges so that they were smooth rather than sharp and thickened so that they looked like bracelets. Then, we painted the inside of the bracelets with nail polish! We came up with pricing, made a sign for the event, and had fun selling our bracelets at the fair.
Here are some of the results:
We raised $141 for ECBC!
