Here's how we're taking action in our community:

Im taking action in the community by organizing a holiday you drive for children in the hospital. We collected toys at Hicks Canyon, Beckman High School and various business and community neighborhoods. We collected over 1,700 new toys that were delivered to CHOC, CHLA, Healthbridge Childrens Hospital, Kaiser Anaheim, Kaiser Sunset, Kaiser Fontana. Additionally we had extra toys so delivered some to Orangewood Foundation and San Clemente womens shelter.

Here's how we got the idea:

My idea came from my brother Donovan Justice who passed away from brain cancer on 4/28/14. In 2013 he brought toys to the hospital for all of the warriors battling cancer with him. We wanted to carry on his tradition of making others SMILE.

These are the steps we took:

Created a flyer promoting the toy drive. Distributed to all of the students at Hicks Canyon and local neighborhoods. We also promoted the toy drive on social media.

Here are some of the results:

My efforts resulted in over 1700 new toys collected and distributed to local hospitals. In addition we hosted a party a CHOC to deliver the toys and a holiday party at Kaiser Anaheim.

These are the people who volunteered with me:

One of the coolest things that happened during my project was:

The best part was seeing all of the priceless SMILES on the kids faces!

One of the most important things I learned was:

I learned how fortunate I am everyday to have my health. I miss my brother everyday and will continue to honor his memory and make others SMILE as well as letting others know childhood cancer is not rare.
