Here's how we're taking action in our community:
I play the harp and enjoy performing. I have performed at many places including CHOC and nursing homes in Irvine. I have learned that people enjoy hearing the harp and wanted to use this to help raise money. I thought I could play and sell something to raise money for charity. I decided to make hair bows to match our school colors.
Here's how we got the idea:
On Wednesdays at our school we wear our "grade" colors and I thought it would be a good idea to sell hair bows to match.
These are the steps we took:
I practiced songs on the harp that I knew kids would want to hear Disney & pop songs. My mom and I bought hair bow supplies at the fabric store and made bows. I recruited my friend Skylar to help. Skylar and I made a poster promoting our booth at the Ripple Fair and Skylar helped sell the bows while I played the harp.
Here are some of the results:
In one afternoon of selling we raised $163.00 and that will buy many new toys for the children at CHOC Ortho Institute to play with!
These are the people who volunteered with me:
My friends, My family
One of the coolest things that happened during my project was:
I got many donations in my "donation hat" that we set out by my harp.
One of the most important things I learned was:
I needed help from family and friends to make my project a success.
