Here's how we're taking action in our community:
We went collecting spare school supplies from classrooms and informing students about the school supply drive for Esqueda Elementary in Santa Ana.
Here's how we got the idea:
We got the idea because our school got a letter from the school requesting school supplies so we decided to take action.
These are the steps we took:
We announced the school supply drive in our school newspaper and sent out flyers in the Friday folders. We then went to each class to tell them about the supply drive. We also announced it over the school intercom and in the Husky Howl that goes to every family.
Here are some of the results:
We collected 4 boxes of supplies which included paper, books, pencils, crayons, highlighters, glue sticks, sticky pads, erasers, tape and pens. There was approximately $350 worth of school supplies.
One of the coolest things that happened during my project was:
The kids will be really excited to receive the supplies.
One of the most important things I learned was:
Helping people can really make a difference and that kids can help other kids.
