Here's how we're taking action in our community:

Toy Drive benefiting pediatric cancer patients. Raise toys for children battling cancer and other illness as well as spread awareness around the number of children 43 diagnosed each day with cancer.

Here's how we got the idea:

My brother Donovan, battled brain cancer and last year he wanted to buy toys for all of the children at the Christmas Oncology Party for pediatric cancer patients. I decided to carry on the tradition.

These are the steps we took:

Delivered over 1,000 flyers in my neighboor
Step up a donation bin in my classroom, Mrs. Biehls class and sent flyers home with each student.
Step up donation bins in my neighborhood as well as a few schools, local AT&T stores, my moms work.
Emptied the collection bins each night the toy drive went for 8 days

Here are some of the results:

We raised over 775 new toys that were donated to 5 hospitals. all 5 hospitals where my brother, Donovan was treated. At an average cost of $15.00 almost $12,000 worth of toys were collected and distributed.

These are the people who volunteered with me:

My family, An organization

One of the coolest things that happened during my project was:

My 1st grade class, Mrs. Biehls class also made Christmas Cards to pass out with the gifts at the Oncology Christmas Party at Kaiser in Anaheim. Seeing the smiles on each childs face as they got to pick out there toys an read their card.

One of the most important things I learned was:

it feels better to give than receive.
