Here's how we're taking action in our community:

Im taking action in my community by providing gently used books to children who need and want them. I want to help kids build their home libraries.

Here's how we got the idea:

My mom and step dad always help others and also help at my school.

These are the steps we took:

My mom was in charge of the book fair at my school. During that week, we collected gently used books from kids at my school. My mom helped me create a raffle for the donations. We also rewarded those kids that donated.

Here are some of the results:

In 7 days, I collected 752 books for kids. These books were all donated by Loma Vista Elementary families. We gave the collection of books to the Orange County Rescue Mission in Tustin. The OCRM is going to put some of these will devide these books among children and their families in the community. I even donated 25 of my own books!

These are the people who volunteered with me:

My family

One of the coolest things that happened during my project was:

I was so happy to see many of my friends bring in a lot of books. I also liked how excited the helpers at the mission were.

One of the most important things I learned was:

I really like helping people.
