Megan

Hi - Megan, here. So, you want to start a project, but need help getting started? Well, you've come to the right place. We've outlined some steps that might give you some ideas of where to start.

  1. Who do you want to help?
Look around you. There are so many people and organizations that need help, that sometimes it can be overwhelming. One way to identify an area to start would be to consider what you're passionate about. Do you love babies? Do you like to work with animals? Are you tired of looking at trash every time you go to the park? For my project to help the Tsunami victims, I was inspired by the fact that I had so much and these people had so little.
  2. How do you want to help?
Here are some questions to help you figure it out:
  3. Make a plan
Now that you know what you want to do, figure out how to make it happen. Make a timeline and a list of the things you need to do to get it done. Do you need other volunteers to help you? If you want to work with a specific organization such as a retirement home or animal shelter, who do you need to talk to there to set a date and a time? You'll need an adult to help you whether it's a teacher, your parents or somebody else.
  4. Be a Ripple Kid! It's time to implement your plan and make a difference in your community.
  5. Make sure to submit your project form when you're all done to tell us about it. Who knows? You may end up being featured on the web site!
